Death of enlightenment
What would a world without conflict look like? Where you can eat a piece of chocolate without thinking about the repercussions of how this affects your health, the piece of wrapper that affects the environment? That would be pretty darn awesome. Would that bring us freedom? And then what? What does freedom even look, taste, and feel like? Would that bring us even more conflict, where we are faced with meaninglessness and are tasked with making sense of it all. Can meaning exist without conflict? One may argue that this is not possible, and there is evidence for that. For instance, if we were to prevent most diseases (If we took care of ourselves more often by simply adopting a healthier lifestyle, see references.) There would be no need for most jobs in the medical industry, and hence a minimisation of conflict. This would result in a lot of lost jobs, and an inevitable loss of meaningful work as well.
